Corendon Mangrove Beach Resort - Curaçao

Corendon Mangrove Beach Resort on Curaçao opened its doors this summer. “Opening a resort during a pandemic was not an easy task, but with hard work and dedication from every member of our family, we were able to overcome all obstacles,” said Gunay Uslu, Director of Hotel Development and Design for Corendon Hotels & Resorts.

Gunay Uslu is the sister of Corendon's founder Atilay Uslu and he was of course also present during the ribbon cutting ceremony. The Director of Hotel Development emphasizes the challenging construction process and the countless challenges, but also the unique character of this large-scale project.

This resort is one of the largest and also one of the most sustainable on Curaçao. For example, there are 1,600 solar panels on the roof that continuously supply the entire complex with power. The location is special, in the middle of nature between beautiful mangrove trees on a beautiful barrier reef right on the sea. Further on is the special pier where cruise ships from all over the world normally moor.

Corendon Mangrove Beach Resort fulfills an important local role for the residents of the Caribbean island. In addition to employment, there is close cooperation with various institutions, organizations and communities in Curaçao. Local artists have created works of art specially commissioned by the resort that have become an important part of the holiday resort. With the prominent role of these unique works, the resort wants to help its guests 'go out' and explore the vibrant neighborhood of Otrobanda, Willemstad and all other parts of the beautiful island and thus also the inspiring people of Curaçao. to meet.

Interior Group, together with co-creator Keijsers Interiors, was asked to carry out the interior construction of this large-scale project. Two of the three buildings have now been completed. The total number of rooms is 405, making the Corendon Mangrove Beach Resort the largest and most sustainable hotel complex on Curacao. Interior Group has made the headboards for all beds in the hotel rooms, as well as the desks, cupboards, mirrors and sinks. With an eye for detail and a delicate finish, these products really come into their own in the 405 hotel rooms.

The sushi bar, restaurant, reception and indoor bar are also made by us. We were also allowed to contribute ideas to the design of the public spaces. A challenging project due to the logistics, the warmth and the different culture, but what a beautiful project. We are proud of this collaboration.
